Deborah Kerr
Sensitive, unfailing good taste, memorable on and off the screen
Of course the obvious are obvious! Diet - Excercise - Sleep - Relaxation - all of these are essentials. But I think the most important effort one must make is a mental one. It is vital to be positive and not neggative in the onslaught of the years! But! If everytime you say: "Oh! I am so tired," Oh! My bones are creaking," Oh! I am too old for that!" If everytime you say these phrases, or think them, if you deny their power over you, and answer: "No! I am not tired," "No! My bones are not creaking," "No! I am N E V E R going to be 'too old,' your spirits are lifted and you are ready to face A N Y T H I N G!
I know it sounds simplistic! But just TRY it! As an actress I have many times felt I could not drag myself to the theatre one more time. But when it comes, I am like a racehorse, snorting and tossing my head and waiting impatiently for the gates to open - my case, the curtain to go up! I do realize that I am blessed with having a profession . . . one that demands energy and youth, even if you are eighty years old! What it comes down to is "MIND OVER MATTER," and I cannot recommend this medicine too highly!
